The 70th week of Daniel

Daniel 9:24 (KJV) Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.
“are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city”  This is the part that tells us the 70 weeks are centered around the Jews.

Daniel 9:24 (KJV) 24Seventy {weeks} - H7620 shaw-boo'-ah - literally sevened, that is, a week (specifically of years) “Strong’s Hebrew and Greek Dictionary.”
I have seen some use Gen. 29:26-28 as showing a week to equal 7 years.  The week was just that, one week in which Jacob fulfilled the wedding ritual.  He then worked for another 7 years after he fulfilled the second week with Rachel.  I find stronger proof of a week equaling 7 years in Daniel and Rev.
Daniel 9:27 (KJV)  And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.  Dan. 7:25 / 12:7, 11, 12 / Rev. 11:3, 11 / 12:6 / 13:5. All of these verses show us the 7 years broken down into two 3 ½ year time frames.
The word week was a common idiom, expression, the Israelites used to denote a 7 year time frame.  Leviticus 25:8 (NKJV) 8‘And you shall count seven sabbaths of years for yourself, seven times seven years; and the time of the seven sabbaths of years shall be to you forty-nine years.
These are some of the best reasons for understanding that the days mean years and a week is 7 years in prophecy.

“to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.” Some will tell you this was accomplished with Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection.  I do not see an end of sins or everlasting righteousness, except for Jesus, until the end of time. Revelation 20:7 - 9 (NKJV) 7Now when the thousand years have expired, Satan will be released from his prison  8and will go out to deceive the nations which are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle, whose number is as the sand of the sea.  9They went up on the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of the saints and the beloved city. And fire came down from God out of heaven and devoured them.
This Gog and Magog do not have the same meaning as in Ezekiel.  These are two separate battles like WW I & WW II.  This battle in Rev. 20 will be WW IV.  The end of humankind as we know them.

Daniel 9:25  The 69 Weeks;  25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
From the command to restore Jerusalem unto the Messiah shall be 69 weeks.  69 X 7 = 483 years.   At the time this was written a Jewish year was 360 days long.  This would equal 173,880 days.
Sir Robert Anderson was Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department of Scotland Yard.  He tried to demonstrate with mathematics the fulfillment of Daniel's prophecy for the Messiah.
There is a great deal of controversy over the start and end date for the 173,880 days but no matter how you slice it, it comes out to when Jesus walked on His earth.  I personally believe that the fulfillment was on His triumphal entry into Jerusalem.  Luke 19:41-44 41Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42saying, “If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes … because you did not know the time of your visitation.  If the leadership of Jesus’ day had not shut their eyes to the truth they could have calculated the day, probably a lot easier then we can almost 2000 years later.

26And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.

9:26 An Interval between the 69th and 70th Week;
From the time the Messiah will be cut off until the covenant with Israel.
Romans 11:25 (KJV)  For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fulness of the Gentiles be come in.   Luke 21:24 …until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.  When this time of the gentiles is fulfilled the last week will start.

9:27 The 70th Week.
27And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
Matthew 24:15 (KJV)  When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
The covenant  has not happened yet nor an end of sins. Jesus is telling us to look for the abomination of desolation to stand in the holy place.  He is not speaking of Antiochus Epiphanes, who defiled the temple approximately 168 B.C.
Dan. 7:25 / 12:7, 11, 12 / Rev. 11:3, 11 / 12:6 and 13:5 all speak of 3 ½ years of 360 days to a year.  We will not know the day or the hour that Jesus is going to rapture the church, but he has let those left behind know the exact day that He is going to stand on the Mt. of Olives.  7 X 360 from the confirmation of the covenant and 3.5 X 360 from the antichrist standing in the holy place.
